When you move into a new space, your first impressions are usually the ones that are more intense – while also being the most decisive for the future. When standing still, there appear infinite possible universes. They are exponentially minimized by your each step. Every time you move into a new space, a million possibilities are nullified.
Each new space is a successful click
on minesweeper. The disappearance
of so many squares causes great relief. Now, however, the eye turns to the last few squares that might contain mines. We move around the same points in an increasingly smaller radius each time. We think of ourselves as colonists, but
we are colonized by space.

Each new space is a new “terra quadrata”, ripe for exploration.
TERRA QUADRATA is the first exhibition presented by the new
artist-run space KEIV. Taking their cue from this unexpected click, five artists showcase, comment, forge and create the characteristics of the new space and its surrounding neighborhood in playful mood and practice, each according to their particular artistic approach.
